Quick answer: This LED pixel pitch chart lists the most common LED display pitches from P0.9 to P10. As a rule of thumb, the minimum viewing distance in meters equals the pixel pitch in millimeters, the best viewing distance is 2–3 times that, and pixel density equals (1000 ÷ pitch)² pixels per square meter.

How to Read the Pixel Pitch Chart

  • Pixels per m² = (1000 ÷ pixel pitch)². Halving the pitch gives four times the pixels — and a much higher LED screen cost.
  • Minimum viewing distance is where viewers stop seeing individual pixels.
  • Best viewing distance is where most of the audience should be for a smooth, sharp image.

Pick the largest pixel pitch whose minimum viewing distance is still shorter than your closest viewer. That gives the best image quality for the lowest LED display cost.

Example: Choosing Pixel Pitch from the Chart

A company lobby has viewers standing 3–8 m from the screen. From the chart, P2.5 (minimum 2.5 m) covers everyone, while P1.8 would only add cost. For a boardroom where people sit 2 m away, P1.2–P1.5 is the right choice.

DDW Engineer Notes: LED Pixel Pitch Chart

The chart is a starting point. Content matters too: small text, spreadsheets and camera filming need a finer pitch, while video and advertising can use a larger one. Our engineers usually confirm the pitch with a site visit or a sample module viewed at the real distance.

FAQ

What pixel pitch should I use for 3 meters viewing distance?

For about 3 m, choose P2.5 or finer. P2.5 has a minimum viewing distance of about 2.5 m, so it looks smooth at 3 m.

How many pixels per square meter does a P2.5 LED screen have?

A P2.5 LED screen has 400 × 400 = 160,000 pixels per square meter.

Is P3.9 good for indoor use?

P3.9 works indoors only when viewers are at least 4 m away, such as large halls or stages; closer audiences should use P2.5 or finer.
